This week's letter from Mrs Mayers...

Dear Parents and Carers

This week, Yr6 led Ash Wednesday mass in our church. They read and sang so beautifully and it was a fantastic way to mark the beginning of Lent. During Lent, we will be asking for donations of Easter Eggs for Lewisham Foodbank and more information about this can be found below.

It was such fun to see the children and staff dressed up for World Book Day yesterday. The children had a great day celebrating their favourite books and they enjoyed their time reading with their buddy classes. The Book Day celebrations continued into lunchtime with a 'hungry caterpillar' themed menu from our school caterers, Caterlink.

Thank you to all of the parents who joined Miss Richards for the EYFS and KS1 Maths Parent Workshop this week. We will be planning some workshops aimed at parents of children in Yr3, 4, 5, & 6 for the summer term. I would like to say a big 'thank you' to Miss Richards for organising these sessions.

Kind regards

Hayley Mayers (Headteacher)

SWOY Science Week

We will be holding Science Week during the week commencing 24th March 2025. We will have lots of exciting activities planned during the week but we would like your children to help with the following preparations...

Poster Competition

The theme for Science Week this year is 'Change and Adapt'. Mr Taylor would like children to make posters to promote this theme and our Science Week. We will display all of the posters around the school, but there will be prizes for the top 3 posters!

The information that needs to be included on the poster is...

SWOY Science Week

Change and Adapt

Mon 24th - Fri 28th

Deadline: Wed 12th Mar

Photography Challenge

As the theme this year is 'Change and Adapt, we would like you to take some interesting photographs of something that has changed and adapted. This could include many different things for example: wildlife or technological changes.

We will use all of the images sent in and create a Change and Adapt photography exhibition during Science Week.

Please send your photographs to staylor@swoy.lewisham.sch.uk

Deadline: Fri 21st Mar

Duck Eggs at SWOY

During Science Week, we will have duck eggs arriving at St William of York. These will be located in our Reception Classroom but all of our children will have opportunities to visit and see the ducklings as they hatch!

This week's Friday Club was... Mickey, Conor, Joseph, Ben, Rebecca and Precious.

Well done to all of you! You have been recognised for always being ACE and for consistently going 'over and above'.
