This week's letter from Mrs Mayers...

Dear Parents and Carers

What a fantastic week we’ve had here at school – full of learning, fun, and memorable experiences!

This week, our Year 2, 5 and 6 classes took part in special workshops run by the NSPCC. The children learnt all about how to stay safe, what to do if something doesn’t feel right, and who they can talk to. The NSPCC team were so impressed with how thoughtful, respectful, and engaged our pupils were – they even said how incredible our children are! We couldn’t agree more – we’re so proud of them all.

Our Rock Steady bands put on a lively and energetic concert that had the whole school buzzing with excitement. The children loved seeing their friends up on stage, showing off their musical talents with confidence and enthusiasm. Well done to all our performers.

Reception and Year 6 buddy classes enjoyed a wonderful day out at Broadstairs beach. The children loved building sandcastles, playing games, and particularly enjoyed paddling in the sea! It was heartwarming to see our older and younger pupils enjoying time together, helping each other and making special memories. The weather was kind and the smiles were endless!

Thank you to all our staff, volunteers, and visitors who helped make this week so special.

This weekend, on Sunday, we have our International Day Mass at 10.30am followed by our Summer Fair at school from 12pm. I hope to see you all there!

Wishing you all a restful weekend.

Warm regards

Hayley Mayers (Headteacher)

Punctuality is important

Please ensure your child/ren arrives to their classroom/s ahead of the 9am register.

We appreciate that occasionally there is additional traffic / unforeseen circumstances. However, we ask that you please ensure your child is in class for 9am register. As we have noticed an increase in the number of late children recently.

Late Collection

We understand that, from time to time, unforeseen circumstances can result in occasional lateness. Please telephone the school office if you are running late so we can let your child and their class teacher know. We must also ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children, and this includes managing the impact of late collections. Please see our Late Collection policy here.

School Uniform - please ensure your child's clothes have their name on.

Please do make sure that you check the school uniform list before you buy or replace any items of clothing.

Key things to remember:

  • Trainers are NOT uniform
  • Polo t-shirt: white
  • School shoes: black
  • Trousers: grey
  • Skirts: navy
  • Hairbands: plain black or navy
  • Summer dress: light blue gingham
  • Tights/socks: plan grey or white

Absence Requests

In August 2024, the DfE published new statutory guidance for improving attendance; this is reflected in our school attendance policy, which you can find here.

Section 5 details guidance on requests for authorised absences. There is limited scope for requests that can be approved so please read this section carefully when submitting a request.

You can submit a request for an authorised absence via the form on our website, which is linked here.

Medical / dental appointments during school hours

Where possible, please organise for appointments to take place outside of school hours.

We understand that this is sometimes unavoidable. If this is the case, please let the school office know asap, and please provide a copy of the letter / email received confirming your child's appointment.

RSE Curriculum

Over the past few weeks, the children have been working through their RSE curriculum topics. The RSE curriculum covers a wide range of topics, e.g. relationships, staying safe, keeping your body healthy, consent, changes to our bodies as we get older etc.

We follow a scheme of work called 'Life to the Full', which is produced by Ten Ten. This programme is approved by the diocese and teaches children about key topics in an age-appropriate way.

We believe it’s important for parents and carers to know what’s being taught and to feel confident supporting these conversations at home. You can explore the programme content and resources using the Parent Portal with the following link and login details.

Thank you for supporting our RSE curriculum – working together helps us give children the knowledge and confidence they need to grow into happy, healthy individuals.
