Salary: M1 – U3
Hours: 27.5 hours
Reporting to: Headteacher
About the Role
We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic Class Teacher to join our team at St William of York Catholic Primary School. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to contribute to a dynamic learning environment and make a real difference in the lives of our pupils.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons in line with the national curriculum, school’s planning and schemes of work.
- Adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of the pupils in your class.
- Set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment where all children are encouraged to learn and thrive.
- Manage behaviour effectively to establish a calm and safe learning environment for all pupils.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and adapting teaching strategies accordingly.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and school leadership to enhance teaching practices and support school initiatives.
- Communicate effectively with parents/carers, keeping them informed of their child's progress and well-being.
- Uphold school policies and procedures, including those relating to safeguarding and behaviour management.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events as required.
- Make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school.
The Ideal Candidate will have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Experience teaching in a primary school setting and supporting pupils with SEND.
- Strong understanding of the curriculum and pedagogy.
- Excellent classroom management and organisational skills.
- A commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
- A reflective approach to professional practice and a desire for continuous improvement.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
